Crawfish Capital

Breaux (pronounced Bro) Bridge, Louisiana, is a small town located 9 miles east of Layafette.  It is a quiet town, except for the first weekend in May when tens of thousands of people descend on Breaux Bridge for…

In 1959, Breaux Bridge was named the “Crawfish Capital of the World” and the year of 1960 brought the first crawfish fest.

For the past 53 years, Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, has been host to some of the greatest Cajun music, plenty of frosty beverages, (in 10 ounce cans) and tons of the little red crustaceans.  I will be back to partake in the festivities, but with a chair next time! (I suggest you don’t forget yours.)
