My Undying Love

Everyone who knows me knows I have an undying love for my phone. I have the Samsung Vibrant Android. This is my second Android phone. My first one was the G1 when it first came out. I thought my crackberry was cool, but the Android, OMG! What can’t it do? The only difference between my phone and the iPad is you can’t talk on the iPad.

Ten years ago I got rid of the land line in my home. One night when I returned home from work I had 13 voicemail messages. All 13 were from telemarketers. I called BellSouth right then and had them cut my service off. Her response to me was, and this is no exaggeration, “You are going to miss the dial tone.” What? Really? Are you kidding me? I don’t think so!

Ok, so maybe that was not the smartest thing I ever did seeing as I had two boys at home that were not at the “cell phone age” Nowadays children have their own cell phone at the age of 6. I don’t get it, but it is none of my business. My boys received phones when they started driving.

I recently got rid of the land line for my store when I moved locations. I run everything through my cell phone now. I even run the Internet through my phone to my laptop. I haven’t had Internet in my home in three years now because of the phone.

I have always been a gadget person, and had to have the latest greatest thing out there. Not anymore. My phone does it all. I’ve sold my Garmin, I have an app for that. I don’t buy books anymore; I have an app for that also. I track my fitness plan and food intake with an app. Another app keeps up with my cardio training, distance, time, minimum, maximum speed and calories burned. I have the Geocaching app and have spent time from work to take an employee out geocaching. She now loves it also.

There are a couple of different Bibles on my phone now along with Google translate, several News apps, (remember, I don’t have TV) Discovery Channel, Dictionary, Groupon, LivingSocial, Latitude, Instant Heart Rate, IQ tester (yes, I test myself every so often) a grocery list app, several mind game/brain teasers apps, a couple of camera apps, two different airline apps, twitter, WordPress and of course Youtube.

All in all, I have 116 different apps on my phone, and each one of them does get used. I get on line from time to time to see what is new. It can become overwhelming if you let it. I can only imagine where technology will be in a couple of years. If the technological world were to come to an end,  I wouldn’t know where to begin.

This is my journey…
