Jumbo Pigs In a Blanket

It was a dark and stormy night….

No, really, it was!  The entire time Trenton and I were in a tent, it rained!  After the record-breaking heat wave I went through last summer while in a tent, I would rather have the rain. (Remember me telling you how much I hate the heat?)  I felt bad for Trenton though, this adventure was the first time he had been in a tent and it just would not stop raining. Oh well, it is what it is.

On this particular night I found (bought) some DRY firewood and started the fire so I could cook bake grill roast, hell, I don’t know what you would call it!  I guess it is a combo of them all.  Here ya go…

Jumbo Pigs In A Blanket

One package of hot dogs (I like Nathan’s)

One can of biscuits (8 hot dogs, 8 biscuits, simple huh?)

One nice wood fire

Roasting fork

Roast your hot dog over the fire on a two-pronged, long-handled fork.  The roasting time will vary, depending on how “well done” you like your dog.  When it is roasted to perfection, remove it from the roasting fork.  Pop open the can of biscuits, take one and stretch it out so it is long, thin and flat.  Wrap the biscuit around the hot dog.  Pierce the biscuit covered dog back on the fork and hold it over the fire, turning slowly.

This will take a few minutes (several) to get the biscuit golden brown and the inside cooked, “but hey Jack!” (said in my best Si Robertson voice) there is nothing better than being in the woods, cooking over an open-fire with people you love!
