There is a reason for that.

Everything in our lives happens for a reason. The people who come into our lives whether for a passing moment, or for a lifetime, are there for a reason. Sometimes we know right away why that person has come into our lives, and other times, we will never know the reason. The same is true for events in our lives.

Last year was by far the worst year of my life. It seemed I got hit with one event after another and, it started the first week of January. Month after month I was being slapped with something new and it didn’t end until December. I kept wondering “how much more of this slapping could I take?” Obviously a lot more than I thought. I don’t regret any of the events that took place, and I believe they have made me a stronger person. I like who I am today more than the person I was last year.

Hitting every red light on the Atlanta Hwy use to annoy the hell out of me. And it always seemed to occur when I was in a big hurry. This was more often than not. Now when I get caught at one red light after another, my being annoyed is but a fleeting moment. I then remember, there is a reason for that. And I am sure I will never understand it.

We have all seen the email that went around talking about the people whose lives were spared during the attacks on the World Trade Towers. There was the man who stopped to pick up the donuts because it was his turn. The woman who returned home to change shoes because the new ones she was wearing gave her a blister. These people are alive today because of a small delay. I’m sure the delays annoyed them at the time but are now grateful for those delays.

I am glad I have gotten to the place in my life where I have slowed down and am enjoying the little things. Most people never get to this place. I’m glad I got here early. I’m enjoying this ride.

This is my journey…

  1. I truly believe this idea of everything happens for a reason. It keeps me sane to know that there is a big picture that I don’t always see….

Each red light slows you down and helps you avoid an accident from driving too fast, as well as giving you time to enjoy the day.
