The Texas Renaissance Festival started in 1974, on 15 acres that George Coulam purchased. Over the past 39 years the fest grounds have grown to almost 60 acres with an additional 170 acres for camping. The first year brought 33,000 people to the Ren Fest and in 2012, they had a record-breaking year with over 606,000 people over the 17 day period. I am glad I was one of them.
