Everything I own has been packed up, given away or in storage. Some of this stuff I will not see for the next six years, and I wonder how much of it will be remembered. It will undoubtedly be like Christmas when I get back.
Get your China out today for the burgers you will be pulling off the grill. Enjoy it now. Everyday dishes are fine, but the people who will be sitting at your table tonight are they not worth the good stuff? The China dishes I have is a set my mother has given to me. It was used during Thanksgiving and Christmas, and that was it. The sad part is is that I love that set! But it was used only twice a year. I should have enjoyed the dishes more while I had the opportunity. It is packed up in its protective cases and tucked away in the back of my storage unit.
I have price tags on a few articles of clothing that have never been worn. I have been saving them for a special occasion. They will not be needed on my journey, and I believe I will be wearing them to Wal-Mart, so I can enjoy them now. I may look like an idiot, and I honestly do not care. Hey! You might even see my picture on the “People of Wal-Mart” website!
We all tend to save “stuff” for a rainy day or a special occasion. Every day should be a memorable occasion. You liked something enough to buy it, now use it. You never know what tomorrow will bring, and you might not get the chance again.
This is my journey…
